
Michael Rousseau is a Canadian business executive who has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada since February 2021. With extensive experience in finance and corporate management, he has played an important role in the transformation and strategic development of Canada’s largest airline.
Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Rousseau graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Before joining Air Canada, he held senior financial and executive positions at several major companies, including Hudson’s Bay Company, where he served as President.
Rousseau joined Air Canada in 2007 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He later became Deputy CEO and CFO before succeeding Călin Rovinescu as President and CEO in 2021. During his years with the company, Rousseau has been closely involved in its financial strategy and long-term corporate transformation.
His influence also extends to the international aviation industry. In December 2024, Rousseau was elected Chair of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board, while also serving on the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association.
